Element: Prepare for task
  • Determine task requirements and drilling specifications from work documentation
  • Identify and follow work health and safety requirements
  • Select material for machining and check it meets task quality requirements
  • Check that cutting tools, jigs and other required tools and equipment are available, safe and functional
  • Identify procedures for waste minimisation and energy efficiency while completing task

  • Check that emergency stops, gauges, guards, controls and safety equipment are functional prior to machine start-up
  • Complete drill settings and adjust to meet task requirements in compliance with manufacturer instructions
  • Complete trial runs to check that drill is fully functional and that finished work meets task accuracy and quality requirements

Assessment Tasks

Copy and paste from the following data to produce each assessment task. Write these in plain English and spell out how, when and where the task is to be carried out, under what conditions, and what resources are needed. Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.

When you have finished writing your assessment tool every one of these must have been addressed, preferably several times in a variety of contexts.
